- TRY: 365,000 ₺
Power wires and cables include all electrical conductors used in the power industry, automotive, construction, equipment and machinery, or put another way, all industrial applications. As one of the early steps in the supply chain of wires and cables with metal conductors, metal wire rod is drawn into wires in different diameters, which are then coated with different insulations based on applications. Wires are also used in wiring harnesses for motor vehicles. Finally, wires (coated or otherwise) are twisted into cables. Copper is the main conductor used in the production of power wires and cables in the UAE.
Product Description
With a per-capita GDP of $61,000 in 2019, the UAE was the second largest economy in the region that year, behind Qatar. Despite being the most diverse economy in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the country is still reliant on oil. Oil and petrochemicals account for a major portion (more than half) of the country’s exports. Due to the growing demand in power and telecom infrastructure, wires and cables as well as related industries have been developed.
Market drivers of the UAE’s power wires and cables
Since the demand for power wires and cables is met from domestic output in the UAE, developments in the electricity grid will create great demand for these products.
The growing population and the increasing demand for housing in the UAE will translate into developments in the construction sector, boosting demand for power wires and cables.
Overview of the UAE’s power wire and cable market
Despite the significant developments in the UAE’s wire and cable industry, the country is still a net importer of power wires and cables. Strong domestic demand for wires and cables coupled with unrestrained exports of wire rod as a key raw material in the production of power wires and cables have suppressed the growth of domestic output. However, increased supply over the recent years has resulted in reduced net imports of power wires and cables. Supply is not likely to increase significantly over the coming years, but demand will surge along with infrastructure development and increasing construction over the coming years. On this basis, net imports of power wires and cables are expected to increase.
Breakdown of the UAE’s power wire and cable market
The UAE’s power wire and cable market has been broken down using three factors. In terms of type, both supply and demand for power wires and cables are categorized into HV and LV wires and cables. Demand is also analyzed in terms of conductor type, including copper and aluminum. Finally, a distinction has been made based on applications in different industries; construction, power and telecom, and transportation are major consumers of power wires and cables.
